"Final Exit'' - a book

Dear Mr.Humphry,
I received and read your book "The Final Exit" this week. It reaches a goal seldom covered in any source of information about self-deliverance. As the pages go by, the reader is able to objectively discard any reasons other than profound and chronic pain and suffering as motives to consider the final exit. This is, without any persistent and obvious warnings, the way in which it's written addresses issues that can only be understood with the comprehension of such a terrible experience (chronic suffering). -----

The inevitability of gradualness

The philosopher Peter Singer predicts in the current issue of 'Foreign Policy' magazine:
"During the next 35 years, the traditional view of the sanctity of human life will collapse under pressure from scientific, technological, and demographic developments. By 2040, it may be that only a rump of hard-core, know-nothing religious fundamentalists will defend the view that every human life, from conception to death, is sacrosanct."
